About Us

BloodLink Africa is a life-saving digital platform created to connect voluntary blood donors with hospitals and patients in urgent need across Africa. The project aims to reduce preventable deaths caused by blood shortages by building a reliable network of registered donors, enabling faster emergency responses, and raising awareness about regular blood donation through campaigns and community drives. Leveraging technology to bridge the gap between donors and patients, BloodLink Africa exists to ensure that no life is lost simply because safe blood was unavailable – truly saving lives one drop at a time.

Our History

BloodLink Africa was founded in July 2025 by Anthony Bazira, a passionate student innovator and health advocate in Uganda. The idea was born during his internship at the National ICT Innovation Hub, where he learned about the recurring blood shortages in hospitals across Africa.

Witnessing reports of maternal deaths due to postpartum hemorrhage, children suffering from sickle cell anemia, and accident victims dying for lack of timely transfusions, Anthony envisioned a digital solution that could bridge the gap between voluntary donors and hospitals.

Starting as a student-led project, BloodLink Africa was designed as a web-based and mobile-accessible platform to register blood donors, respond to emergency requests, and mobilize life-saving donation campaigns. Though still young, the initiative aims to scale across Africa, ensuring that no life is lost simply because safe blood wasn’t available in time.

Mission

“To save lives by connecting voluntary blood donors with patients and hospitals through technology, creating awareness, and promoting a culture of regular blood donation.” Using digital platforms, mobilizing communities, and running awareness campaigns—to achieve the vision.
